Why Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January only?

The 26th of January is recorded in golden letters in the country's history. India officially became a republic on this day in 1950. Since then January 26 is celebrated as Republic Day every year. On this occasion, a parade is organized at India Gate in Delhi. Several types of tableaux emerge and the army demonstrates its power. India may have officially declared itself a republic on 26 January 1950, but its preparations had begun much earlier. Congress session was held in Lahore on 26 January 1929. Jawaharlal Nehru was presiding. In this, a proposal was made to make India a full republic, which was rejected by the British rule.

A year later, on 26 January 1930, the Congress declared India as a full republic on its behalf. Meanwhile, the war of independence from the British continued. Then about 16 years later, on 9 December 1946, the writing of the Indian Constitution began. The Chairman was Sachchidananda Sinha. But later the President of the Constituent Assembly, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar became the jurist of the Constituent Assembly Committee. It took 2 years 11 months 18 days to make the constitution.

On 26 November 1949, the committee submitted to the Constitution Chairman. But two months after the constitution officially came into force. That is, on 26 January 1950. The biggest reason for choosing this day was the Lahore Congress session, where the proposal of a full republic was introduced for the first time. On 26 January 1950, the country's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, hoisted the flag with a 21-gun salute and declared India a full republic. Since then, every year this day is celebrated as Republic Day.
Every year the Prime Minister, President or ruler of some country is invited as a special guest in the Republic Day celebrations. The President of Indonesia, Dr. Sukarno, became a special guest at the first Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 1950. Since independence, there have been only three times that the Republic celebrations have been held without a foreign chief guest.

Why only 26 January? (Why 26th January Special)

There were many leaders in India in the initial phase against the British, but the Moderate leaders always followed the path of prayer, petition and the Moderate leaders also justified the British rule. But later Congress leaders started the freedom movement against the British government. Many such leaders also used to come in as the leaders of the moderates who wanted to drive the British out of India. However, after 1905, the leaders of Garamdal arise. It is from here that the legs of the British begin to weaken in India. In fact, under the chairmanship of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, the mission of granting full Republic status to India was started.

26 January 1949 became the special day when the Congress session was held in Lahore and for the first time, a proposal was made to make India a full republic.  But after this session on 26 January 1949, Indian leaders changed their views and started demanding complete self-rule. However, this proposal of the Congress was turned down by the British rule. But when India got independence, the Constitution was implemented only on 26 January.

Great Democracy

When elections were held recently in America, the results of this election have decided one thing that America is the oldest democracy in the world but India is the greatest democracy in the world. The main reason for this has also been our history. The question of some people is often what would have happened if India had got independence after the Sepoy Revolution of 1857. The simple answer to this is that our democracy would not be so strong because if we had got freedom at that time, then perhaps Sati practice would not have ended, women or people from lower strata would not have the right to vote or equal rights to everyone in the society. Could get In such a situation, Indian democracy would never emerge as a great democracy.

World Biggest Hand Written Constitution

The Indian Constitution is the largest handwritten constitution in this world. Some argue that most of the provisions of the Indian Constitution have been taken from foreign constitutions. However, there is nothing wrong with this. Because if some good things are present in the constitution then there should be no harm in accepting it. Baba Saheb Ambedkar himself accepted this. He said that many countries around the world have become independent before us. In such a situation, if there is some goodness in the constitution of a country, there is no harm in accepting it.
